Air recycling in residential housings and ventilation systems |
According to the sanity standards for the housing blocks with natural inlet ventilation systems, the air recycling rate should be at least 30 m3/hour per one person. The modern hermetic window installations provide air flow rates not exceeding 6-7 m3/hour, and gap window valves add at most 15 m3/h per whole apartment. Thus, to ensure optimal air recirculation, a supplementary device is recommended providing a sufficient forced and controllable air flow into the rooms.
Device: Compact inlet ventilation system Breezer Tion O2 with air cleaning feature (up to 120 m3/h; compliance with HEPA-grade air filtration; climate control)

Air recycling and cleaning in forced ventilation systems |
For apartment buildings with centralised forced ventilation, the minimum performance of the ventilation system is calculated based on the optimum of 30 m3/h for rooms with permanent human presence, 60 m3/h for kitchens, and 25 m3/h for bathrooms and restrooms.
If a room is equipped with air conditioning appliances, an additional air cleaning and disinfection inside the ventilation ducts will be also desirable. Installing the air cleaner into the inlet ventilation duct allows for maintaining the sanity standards, eliminates the danger of legionellosis (the problem can arise in ill-serviced air conditioning systems), and reduce the ventilation maintenance costs by considerably increasing the time intervals between planned maintenance cleaning works in the duct.
Equipment: For the inlet channel: Duct air filter and decontaminator Tion Eco (300 to 25000 m3/h)

Air cleaning and disinfection indoors |
If the rooms with strong contamination sources (for example, smoking areas or rooms with patients) are not provided with centralized ventilation system with air cleaning, it is advisable to install autonomous air cleaning and disinfection systems.
Equipment: Bactericide air cleaner and decontaminator Tion Clever (up to 150 m3/h, H11 filtration grade, disinfection efficiency 99.9%, air cleaning from noxious substances down to the prescribed contamination levels)

Air recycling in office premises with natural ventilation |
The recommended air recycling rate for offices and cabinets is at least 40 m3/h per one person for the natural ventilation, and at least 60 m3/h for the forced ventilation. The airtightness of the window sets and insufficient infiltration by gap window valves require the installation of inlet appliances in every room for providing an adequate air recycling.
Equipment: Compact inlet ventilation system Breezer Tion O2 with air cleaning (up to 120 m3/h, compliance with HEPA air filtration grades, air conditioning)

Smoking areas |
Although smoking is prohibited in office rooms, it is still allowed to smoke in specially designated areas, provided with ventilation systems. Such a zone can be arranged either by supplying a high performance forced exhaust ventilation system, ensuring high air recycling rate in the room (this will lead to a high energy demand of the ventilation), or by providing the air recirculation within one room. A recirculation branch with integrated air duct cleaning system can then be added to the inlet ventilation circuit. Air is supplied partly by the intake system, and partly is withdrawn from the room by an exhaust fan. Air passes through a multi-stage cleaning and decontamination process in the air duct cleaning section, then it is fed back into the room. This layout provides a high air recycling rate within one room and considerably reduces the energy demands of the ventilation in smoking areas.
Equipment: Duct air cleaner and decontaminator Tion Eco (300 to 25000 m3/h) for inlet ventilation duct

Air cleaning and energy saving by recycling in HVAC systems |
In office buildings, in order to reduce the amount of fresh air taken by a ventilation system, it is admissible to use a ventilation system with partial air recycling (air is supplied partly from outdoors, and partly withdrawn from inside the room) provided that its cleaning and decontamination on filters is ensured. This allows for considerable energy savings on intake air heating or cooling by the ventilation system.
If an office building or a business center is provided with air conditioning system, it is advisable to consider including the air cleaning stage inside the ducts. The air cleaner in the inlet ventilation duct will maintain the sanity standards in all office rooms and reduce the ventilation maintenance costs by considerably increasing the time intervals between planned maintenance cleaning works in the duct.
Equipment: Duct air cleaner and decontaminator Tion Eco (300 to 25000 m3/h) for inlet ventilation channel

Air recycling in sports facilities with natural ventilation |
Sports halls without grandstand and fitness clubs with effective space volume >80 m3 per one visitor can be designed with natural forced exhaust ventilation only, provided the air recycling rate is at least 30 m3/h per one person. Such air recycling rate can be easily achieved by opening the vent panes and windows. However in cold seasons airing on hourly basis causes air draught and can bring harm to health. The modern window panes when closed are capable of passing no more than 5 -10 m3/hour per window, so it is unreal to ensure sufficient air recycling.
If it is impossible or too expensive to provide the premises with centralized ventilation, the problem can be settled by installation of compact air inlet devices, giving an additional fresh air supply at closed windows or as described in p.2.
Equipment: compact inlet ventilation system Breezer Tion O2 with air cleaning (up to 120 m3/h; compliance with HEPA-grade air filtration; climate control)

Enhancing the air recycling rate |
For small sports halls it is possible to increase the air recycling rate to the required level, by installing additional air inlet appliances, or by installing autonomous air cleaning and disinfection devices, operating in 100% recycling mode. The recycling rate is adjusted by number and performance of the cleaners according to the service volume of the room. Installation of the air cleaning and disinfection devices will allow eliminating specific odours in sports halls and reducing the microbial content as well.
Equipment: Bactericide air cleaner and decontaminator Tion Clever (up to 150 m3/h; H11-grade filtration, disinfection efficiency 99.9%; air cleaning from noxious substances down to the prescribed contamination levels)

Energy saving by recycling in the ventilation system |
Sports halls (including viewing stands) with centralized forced exhaust ventilation systems typically are characterized by large energy demand of the ventilation, required for maintaining the necessary air recycling rate and temperature-humidity conditioning. To reduce the energy costs it is possible to use the recirculation with air cleaning: air is supplied partly from the outside, and partly withdrawn from the room, passing through the cleaning and decontamination section and then fed back into the room. Such layout allows for maintaining the sanitary standards and considerably reduces the ventilation maintenance costs in the sports facilities.

Energy saving by recycling in the ventilation system |
The ventilation systems in supermarkets and shopping centres are typically integrated with an air conditioning feature, which involves a considerable power demand. To reduce costs it is admissible to use the air recycling with cleaning and disinfection in the showrooms (except stores with chemical, synthetic or odorous substances and flammable liquids). Part of the air (adjustable, but at least 20 m3/h per one person) is taken by the ventilation system from the outside, and the remaining part is withdrawn from the room. Then the air passes through the air duct cleaning and disinfection device built in the air inlet duct, then it is fed back to the room. This setup provides considerable energy savings on intake air heating or cooling, and also ensures the compliance with sanitary standard requirements as to the air quality.

Cleaning of the kitchen exhaust air in supermarkets and shopping centers |
The kitchens of food courts and restaurants in the shopping centers and the hot meal preparation rooms in supermarkets are provided with the exhaust ventilation systems for withdrawal of fume, combustion products and kitchen odours from the area. It is not always possible to design an exhaust duct advancing above the roof ridge, as prescribed by the sanitary regulations. To settle this problem an appliance for integrated air cleaning is built inside the outlet duct directly after spark suppressor and grease trap. This effectively protects the air against exhaust from furnaces, braziers and grills in hot shops. Thus the air can be released to the outside at the level of the ground floor without affecting people dwelling or working in the neighbourhood.
Equipment: For cleaning of exhaust air of all kinds of furnaces (with exception of wood stoves and braziers): air duct cleaners Tion Ext (performance from 400 to 27500 m3/h); for cleaning the exhaust air of wood-burning stoves and braziers: air duct cleaners Tion Ext-E (performance from 2000 to 6000 m3/h).

Hot shop exhaust air cleaning |
When designing the exhaust ventilation for hot shops in the catering areas (restaurants, cafeteria etc.) the problem of fume and odours released into habitable areas is a pressing issue. Often it is too expensive to advance the duct above the roof ridge or it is difficult to get approval from authorities for a duct on the facade. To ensure the compliance with sanity regulations it is recommended to clean the exhaust air from fume and odours. An appliance for integrated air cleaning is built inside the outlet duct directly after spark suppressor and grease trap. This effectively protects the air against exhaust from furnaces, braziers and grills in hot shops, and hence the exhaust air from the kitchen is classified as a household exhaust. Thus the air can be released to the outside at the level of the ground floor without affecting people dwelling or working in the neighbourhood.
Equipment: For cleaning of exhaust air from all kinds of furnaces (with exception of wood stoves and braziers): air duct cleaner Tion Ext (performance from 400 to 27500 m3/h); for cleaning the exhaust air from wood-burning stoves and braziers: air duct cleaner Tion Ext-E (performance from 2000 to 6000 m3/h);

Cleaning and disinfection of inlet air in confectionery shops and other spaces for food preparation |
In the confectionery dressing shops the inlet ventilation must feature the anti-dust and bactericide (disinfective) filter providing the clean air pressurization in the room. It is recommended to provide the forced inlet ventilation systems with air cleaning functions. The compliance with maximum concentration limits for noxious substances in the production areas of the public catering places should be strictly followed. Noxious substances include, for example, flour and sugar dust, as well as other fine particles, fluctuating from the production area to the surrounding air and precipitating on the lungs of the personnel. As a comprehensive solution, an appliance for air cleaning and disinfection is installed into the inlet ventilation duct. It provides the compliance with all regulatory requirements for air treatment in the confectionery shops.
Equipment: For integrated air cleaning and disinfection: duct air cleaners and decontaminators Tion Eco (performance from 400 to 27500 m3/h)

Air recycling in childcare centers |
In the preschool institutions rooms, such as entrance halls, toilets, sleeping and game rooms for all groups, as well as doctor’s offices and halls for musical exercises and gymnastics, an inlet ventilation system is recommended with air recycling rate at least 2.5 volumes/hour. Since a child needs at least 20 m3/h for breathing, assuming an average preschool group contains 20 persons, a minimum recycling rate is 400 m3/h, and taking into account the prescriptive regulation of 2.5 air changes yields 1000 m3/h per one room at minimum. The natural ventilation through the gaps of window panes (no more than 5 -10 m3/hour per window) cannot provide even a minimum norm of air recycling. Airing on hourly basis, especially in cold seasons, can harm child’s health. So it is crucial either to provide the premises with a full-scope centralized ventilation system, or to install supplementary devices of air supply with sufficient performance.
Equipment: compact inlet ventilation system Breezer Tion O2 with air cleaning (up to 120 m3/h, compliance with HEPA air filtration grades, air conditioning)

Air cleaning and disinfection indoors |
The doctor’s offices in the general educational institutions (schools, colleges etc.) should be equipped with air disinfection facilities. The bactericide air cleaning and disinfection devices are also advisable in the cold meal rooms in preschools. Besides, air disinfection is recommended in the rooms with permanent presence of pupils, especially during the high periods of airborne infectious diseases to reduce the disease incidence. The installation of cleaning and disinfection devices improves both air cleanliness and air recycling rate.
Equipment: Bactericide air cleaner and decontaminator Tion Clever or bactericide recirculator Tion A (up to 150 m3/h; H11-grade air filtration; disinfection efficiency 99.9%; hazardous substances removal down to MPC; medical equipment licensing).

Air cleaning inside ventilation systems |
In big cities, the concentrations of hazardous substances in the areas around children institutions often exceed the admissible levels. To handle this problem it is necessary to include the installation of an integrated air cleaning and disinfection system inside the inlet ventilation ducts. This allows to protect children and institution staff from adverse ecological conditions and comply with sanitary regulations.
Equipment: Duct air filter and decontaminator Tion Eco (performance 400 to 27500 m3/h)

Bed and breakfast type hoteling facilities and hotels with natural ventilation |
The hotels with low bedspace capacity can be provided with natural inlet ventilation. The air recycling rate in such premises is prescribed by the class of the hotel: for five-star hotels — 70 m3 /h ; 4**** — 60 m3 /h; 3*** — 40 m3/h ; 2**; 1* — 30 m3/h.
If a facility is served with natural ventilation only, you should consider that hermetical window panes provide the air flow rate not exceeding 6-7 m3/h, thus there is a necessity in additional ventilation devices with forced and controllable air intake. If a facility is not equipped with forced inlet ventilation system, it must be provided with appliances for outside air intake, placed at 2 m above floor level or higher.
In the smoking areas, minimum air recycling rate must be 100 m3/h (smoking in hotel rooms is forbidden since 2014 acc. to federal Law #15 and is allowed only in specially designed areas). To enhance the air recycling rate and to ensure the air cleaning from dust, tobacco smoke and other noxious substances you can use the air cleaning and disinfection systems with 100% air recycling.
Equipment: compact inlet ventilation system Breezer Tion O2 with air cleaning (up to 120 m3/h, HEPA-grade air filtration, air conditioning; individual setup in every room).
For smoking areas: air cleaner and decontaminator Tion Clever (up to 150 m3/h, H11-grade air filtration, disinfection efficiency 99.9%, tobacco fume and other noxious substances removal down to the prescribed standard levels)

Energy saving by recycling in the forced ventilation systems of the hotels |
Any hotel, with exception of small capacity facilities (e.g. bed and breakfast type), not equipped with a centralized ventilation system for the whole building or its part, should be provided with balanced forced exhaust ventilation system: with forced draught – in all principal rooms; with forced inlet – in entrance lobbies, halls, saloons, basins, dinner rooms with capacity above 50 persons. Because of huge air volumes passing through the ventilation system (especially if large halls are involved), it is admissible to use air recycling provided an appropriate cleaning and disinfection are ensured. In this case, a recirculation branch with integrated air duct cleaning system is added to the inlet ventilation circuit. Air is supplied partly by the intake system, and partly withdrawn from the room by an exhaust fan, passing through multi-stage cleaning and disinfection process in the air duct cleaning section, and then fed back into the room. Thus only part of air is fed from outside by the air intake system, which allows for considerable cost savings for air treatment. This layout of the ventilation system simultaneously increases the energy efficiency, reduces maintenance costs for cleaning the ventilation channels, and ensures appropriate cleaning of the inlet air from dust in the inlet ventilation and conditioning systems down to admissible contamination levels.
Equipment: Duct air filter and decontaminator Tion Eco (performance 400 to 27500 m3/h)

Protection of critical operations in the food industry |
For protection of critical operations, such as aseptic food and beverages production, including dairy and meat-packing industry, special local clean areas must be provided. It requires applying the air cleaning equipment (for example, laminar flow cells, which are mounted in the ceiling), which provides a one-direction vertical air flow with filtration grade H14 or higher and with disinfection and inactivation of microorganisms down to the admissible levels for microbial contamination in clean zones. This prevents the contamination of products from the atmosphere and ensures safety and quality of the food production.
Equipment: Laminar flow cells Tion B Lam-М1 (600х600х400mm), Tion В Lam-М2 (1200×600х400mm)

Air cleaning and disinfection in ventilation systems for protection of raw stocks, packing material, and goods storage |
The mechanical ventilation systems in the auxiliary areas of clean food industry, used for transportation, packing and other production stages, require a decontamination treatment with inlet air cleaning from noxious substances and dust. We recommend the filtration grade H11-H13 (ISO6 class for surrounding zones, ISO7, ISO8 – for auxiliary areas). The integrated air cleaning and disinfection appliances are mounted inside the inlet ventilation system, air passing through the filtering section and entering the room through the ceiling flow distribution ducts. This ensures the protection against contamination from the atmosphere during filling and packing operations and at storage.
Equipment: for the inlet channel: Duct air cleaner and decontaminator Tion Eco (performance from 400 to 27500 m3/h); for treatment of the contaminated exhaust in the draught channel: Duct air cleaner Tion Ext (performance from 400 to 27500 m3/h);

Reduction of bacterial content in the premises with natural ventilation |
For protection against biocontamination from the atmosphere in small rooms, including those without ventilation (for example, laboratory rooms, etc.) by air cleaning, we recommend the bactericide recirculators (air cleaner and decontaminator appliances). The recirculators are most effective in the packaging and raw material processing rooms, in the warehouses and stock rooms and in the storage areas, for example, for prevention of early ripening of greengrocery.
Equipment: Bactericide recirculator (air cleaner and decontaminator) Tion Clever (up to 150 m3/h, H11-grade air filtration, disinfection efficiency 99.9%, air cleaning from hazardous substances down to admissible levels); for the supplementary ventilation: compact forced ventilation unit Breezer Tion O2 with air cleaning and disinfection (up to 120 m3/h; HEPA-grade air filtration; air conditioning).
